A three-day annual mahfil has started at Charmonai Darbar Sharif in Barisal. This time, the mahfil authorities are hoping that about one and a quarter crore worshipers will gather in the mahfil.

In his inaugural address, Charmonai Pir said that the Charmonai mahfil was not for worldly purposes. Every year a gathering is organized in Charmonai to introduce the lost people to God. If anyone has come here for any worldly purpose, then he has to change his intention and purify himself.
Syed Md. Rezaul Karim said, ‘Those who are new to Charmonai, leave the meditations of this world and give place to the meditations of the Hereafter in their hearts. We have to get rid of the feeling of old age and amiability from the heart and immerse ourselves in the miraculous feet of Allah. We have to keep our hearts fresh through the remembrance of Allah and prepare to leave Charmonai as the saints of Allah. ‘
Expressing satisfaction over the large turnout of youths at this year’s gathering, Charmonai Pir said the role of the youth is pioneering in any major change in the country. So if the youth society becomes better in character, then it is a matter of time before the existing lawlessness of the society is eradicated. Mufti Eshaq Mohammad Abul Khair, brother of Charmonai Pir and chairman of Charmonai Union Parishad, said that two mahfils are held in the month of Agrahayan and Falgun at Charmonai Darbar Sharif every year. The mahfil of the month of Falgun is considered to be the most important. Millions of devotees took part in the gathering.
There will be seven main statements in three days including the opening statement. Charmonai Pir Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim will give five statements and Shaykh Charmonai Nayeb Amirul Mujahidin Mufti Syed Muhammad Faizul Karim will make two statements. The gathering is expected to be attended by top ulama of Bangladesh, Deoband and Nadwatul ulama of neighboring India and top scholars from Turkey.
Mahfil media cell chief Maulana. Shariat Ullah said the canopy has been set up for the worshipers on a total area of about 10 square kilometers in five fields on about 300 acres of land. On Wednesday morning, all five fields were filled with worshipers. The vast area of Charmonai Union has become a sea of people. During the inaugural address, worshipers were seen taking their place in various gardens, ponds and courtyards of the Charmonai area. Incoming worshipers have been requested to abide by the safety rules keeping in mind the Corona situation.
Sanitizers and masks have been made mandatory. A 100-bed Charmonai Mahfil Hospital has been set up for the treatment of any devotee who falls ill. A large number of members have been deployed by the Barisal Metropolitan Police in the Mahfil area.
This time, the head of the media cell of the mahfil is hoping that one and a quarter crore devotees will gather in the mahfil. He said the mahfil will end on Saturday (February 27) at 8 am with the final munajat.
Md. Shariat Ullah said that seven worshipers who came to the mahfil died due to old age. Arrangements are being made for the bodies to reach their homes after Janaza.
